Preheat gas or electric oven with fan to 160 °C or without fan to 180 °C. Grease and flour round cake pan or lightly grease and line the base of a non stick round cake pan.
Place in a large bowl contents of cake mix sachet, eggs, milk and polyunsaturated spread (or butter). Using an electric mixer, mix on low speed until ingredients are combined. Mix on medium speed for 3 minutes, scraping down the sides of the bowl occasionally. Pour batter into prepared cake pan.
Bake for 40-45 minutes. Cake is baked if it springs back when lightly touched in the centre. Allow cake to cool in pan for 5 minutes, before inverting onto a cooling wire to cool completely.
